Our Methodology

How we approach every client matter

Before choosing a service, we encourage every prospective client to begin with an initial consultation. This gives us a clear picture of your circumstances and allows us to recommend the most appropriate path forward. No two family situations are identical, and the right approach depends on where the relationship stands, what the key points of contention are (if any), and what outcomes matter most to you.

Our process is always: listen first, clarify the legal landscape, identify options, and then let you decide how to proceed. You will never be pushed toward a particular service tier — the recommendation will reflect your actual situation.

Listen

Understand your situation and priorities fully before offering any view.

Clarify

Explain the relevant law in plain terms, without assumptions.

Map Options

Lay out realistic choices and their respective considerations honestly.

Support

Accompany you through the process you choose with regular communication.

Initial Family Consultation & Matter Assessment

A private, unhurried first meeting where our practitioners listen to your situation and explain the legal options available under Malaysian civil family law. This session covers matters such as separation planning, spousal maintenance, child custody arrangements under the Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act 1976, and property division principles.

We take time to answer questions in plain language, indicate which documents may be helpful to gather, and outline realistic timeframes. No decisions are asked of you during the meeting; the aim is simply to give you clarity. Includes a written summary of options discussed, sent within three working days.

Service 2

Mutual Divorce Preparation & Filing Assistance

For couples who have reached a shared understanding and wish to proceed with a joint petition under Section 52 of the Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act, our team prepares the documentation with care and thoroughness. This service includes drafting the joint petition, preparing supporting affidavits, reviewing separation terms covering maintenance and child arrangements, liaising with the High Court registry, and representation at the decree nisi hearing.

Throughout, we maintain a respectful, non-adversarial approach, recognising that many families prefer to preserve cordial relations during this transition. Regular updates are provided at each stage so nothing feels uncertain.

Contested Matrimonial & Child Custody Representation

When agreement cannot be reached, our senior family practitioners provide considered representation in contested proceedings before the High Court. This engagement covers single petition filing, interim applications for maintenance and child access, full financial disclosure processes, mediation attendance, expert witness coordination where relevant (such as child welfare assessments), and trial advocacy.

We favour a measured, evidence-led approach that seeks durable outcomes for children and families rather than purely adversarial wins. Includes strategy sessions, regular written progress reports, and careful preparation for any court appearances you may need to attend personally.
