What families say about working with us
We share these accounts because we believe the experience of working with a legal firm matters as much as the outcome. These are honest reflections from past clients.

Client Feedback
In their own words

I went into the consultation not knowing anything about how civil divorce works in Malaysia. Ruzaini spent the full hour walking me through the options calmly, and the written summary that arrived a couple of days later was something I kept referring back to for weeks. It helped me explain the situation to my family without getting anything wrong. When I was ready to proceed with the joint petition, the whole process was handled with very little stress on my end.

I had tried another firm before coming to Amanah Legal and the difference was noticeable from the first call. Here, someone actually listened to the full picture before offering any view. The custody matter involved some genuinely difficult circumstances and I felt the approach was always measured rather than combative — which I think helped us arrive at an arrangement that has actually worked for the children. Communication could have been slightly faster at certain points but overall I was well supported.

The Saturday morning appointment option was what made this possible for me — I cannot easily take time off work midweek. Patricia handled our matter with patience and I particularly appreciated that she explained what the court appearance would involve beforehand. I felt prepared rather than anxious. The fee structure was clear from the start and there were no surprises at the end.

I appreciated that nobody at Amanah Legal pushed me to make a decision. I came in for the initial consultation, took about six weeks to think things over, and when I called back they picked up where we had left off without any pressure. The written summary from that first meeting was genuinely useful — I shared it with a trusted family member who helped me understand what I was reading. The mutual divorce process itself was smoother than I had expected.

Our matter went to contested proceedings and I was not looking forward to the experience. Ruzaini and his team were thorough in preparing me for what to expect, which made the actual hearings much less daunting. The financial disclosure process was handled carefully and I thought the strategy was well reasoned. The outcome took longer than I would have liked but I came away with an arrangement that I feel is fair and that my children can live with.

Nabilah dealt with most of my correspondence and she was excellent — responsive, clear, and always accurate about what was happening with the filing and court dates. I never had to chase for an update, they came proactively. For anyone going through a mutual divorce who wants the process handled properly without drama, I would point them toward Amanah Legal without hesitation.

Mutual Divorce · Kuala Lumpur
Situation
A couple had been separated informally for over a year and had reached verbal agreement on the division of their family home and custody arrangements for their two school-age children. They wanted to formalise things legally but were uncertain how to begin and whether their informal agreement had any standing.
How We Helped
Following an initial consultation where both parties attended, we confirmed the viability of a joint petition. We reviewed and formalised the agreed terms, prepared all necessary documentation including the custody consent order, and managed the full filing and hearing process. Both parties received regular written updates at each stage.
Outcome
The decree nisi was obtained approximately six months after initial filing. The custody and property terms were recorded in court orders, giving both parties legal clarity. The family has continued to co-parent cooperatively since the proceedings concluded.
Contested Custody · Selangor
Situation
A mother of three sought advice after her estranged spouse filed for sole custody in circumstances she considered inaccurate. She had limited knowledge of how custody proceedings worked and was concerned about both the timeline and her own position in the matter.
How We Helped
We filed a cross-petition and applied for an interim custody arrangement pending the substantive hearing. We coordinated a child welfare assessment through an approved social welfare officer and represented our client at all hearings. We prepared thorough affidavit evidence addressing the claims made against her and attended mediation on two occasions.
Outcome
Joint custody was awarded with the children primarily residing with the mother. A structured access schedule for the father was established. The child welfare assessment supported our client's position and was material to the judge's decision. The arrangement has been largely followed without further litigation.
Initial Consultation Only · KL
Situation
A married individual who was considering whether to separate came in for an initial consultation. They had heard conflicting things from friends about their entitlements in a potential divorce and were unsure whether to proceed at all. They were not ready to make any decision but needed accurate information.
How We Helped
We provided an unhurried initial consultation covering the relevant law on property division, maintenance, and child custody based on the client's particular circumstances. We corrected several misconceptions the client had heard informally. The written summary sent afterwards helped them organise their thinking and discuss the situation with a family member.
Outcome
The client decided not to proceed with any legal action at that time. They left with a clear understanding of their rights and options should circumstances change. They returned to instruct us on a mutual divorce matter approximately eight months later, after circumstances developed.
